Stepping into 2025, I wonder what my first steps will be to take the necessary actions moving forward.
It is concerning that cynicism has become the dominant mode of expression, almost accepted as normal. The concept of sustainability has often been distorted, reduced to preserving power and pursuing boundless profit, rather than being a driving force for meaningful change. At the same time, vital environmental issues require bold and immediate solutions.
Yes, the frustration is great, as much seems to be moving in the wrong direction. However, at this moment, more than ever, frustration should not cloud our judgment, nor should it erode the trust we must have in our instincts. We want and we can define our future.
We are here – a steady voice of responsibility and change. Our focus must shift to what truly matters: ecology and sustainability, as defined by the laws of nature, not of the market. We cannot continue down a path where the primary sector is constantly shrinking, and “greenwashing” – superficial environmental awareness – becomes a common practice.
Change must happen, and it must be real
We need more clean energy, better management of natural resources, and especially water. Better and more recycling and reuse practices, particularly regarding packaging. Although the list may be long, I hope that some of these will be included in the corporate plans of both winemakers and other professionals in the wine industry.
For me, as SAY, ILOVE WINE, this change means something more is needed than beautiful words. As a company representing low-intervention wines and organizing wine-themed events, I know I still have much to do to become environmentally responsible.
2025 must be a year of new beginnings. I want to reassess and support partnerships that align with my principles and philosophy. To participate in initiatives focused on environmental protection. To implement environmentally friendly operational practices in my business. To reduce waste, reuse materials where possible, and encourage partners and friends to do the same.
I don’t know if all of this sounds ambitious or excessive. Maybe. But the thought that I can contribute, even a little, to changing the current situation is incredibly powerful. Let’s dare to try. Let’s oppose moral nihilism and become agents of the change our world needs.
